Some people often opt to do away with their devices, after failed efforts and initiatives to bring them back to life, while others breathe the air of patience and actually reap ripe results. If you opt for the latter, it is for the better. Here are the steps to follow when dealing with a water damaged phone, and a few do nots to abide by.
1. Turn off the water damaged phone immediately.
With water in it, you should not expect it to function normally and thus should put on hold any activity with it.
2. Remove all the accessories.
These include the battery, Sim card, Memory card and cover. You have to do so because they are the easiest to begin with when clearing up the moist and water drops that could have affected them.
3. Find a cotton cloth, toilet paper or napkin.
Use any of these to soak water from your phone and the accessories. Ensure that you soak as much as possible after which, wrap your phone in a tissue paper and leave it on for some time.
4. Put the phone in a water absorber.
Rice is great for absorbing liquid and this is actually a common method for drying smartphones and tablets. You can alternatively insert it in a silica gel pack as it too has the power to absorb water. Gel packs are mainly used in shoe boxes.
5. Check it out after two days.
After a couple of days, you can remove the phone from the rice bag or silica pack, insert the battery into the phone and switch the phone on. Things That You Should Not To Do:
Do not heat up the phone with dryer, blow in it, nor shake it up. Avoid pressing any key or trying to turn it on. This could send water into other internal parts of the phone that it hadn’t already reached, causing more damage in the process.
