We got our hands on the Camon 17 device to see what it looks and feels like. The device sold for NGN 77,000 naira on popular e-commerce site, Jumia. However, you might be able to get it for slightly lesser when you buy from an offline store (due to the flexibility that comes with price haggling). Here are our first impressions. (You should definitely lookout for some quick tips that we will be sharing through the post).

The Camon 17 device came in a simply designed, white-colored box. The major specifications of the device are printed on the back of the box. These specifications are really impressive and bound to catch the eyes of potential buyers. Overall, the device was slightly heavy. Camon 17 Key Specifications

Camon 17 Design and Display
The Camon 17 device looks really beautiful and attractive to the eyes. The unit we acquired was Frost Silver in color. Other colors are Deep-sea and Tranquil Green. All of these colors are extremely pretty and it gives the device a refreshing look. The device’s dimension is set at 164.5 x 76.5 x 8.95 mm. It is quite slim especially when you consider that the Camon 16 phone had a slimness of 9.2 mm. Hence, it’ll be slightly lighter than its predecessor. For further context, the iTel P36 smartphone is also 8.9 mm slim. On the back of the device, the fingerprint sensor is strategically located at the upper body. This way, it can be easily accessed with the index finger. Just beside the fingerprint sensor is the triple camera it comes with – arranged vertically – and a flashlight. The loudspeaker, earphone jack, and USB port are all located at the bottom of the device. The volume increase and decrease buttons and the power button are located on the right side. While you have a SIM port on the left side of the Camon 17. As you would expect from a 6.6 inches display smartphone, the Camon 17 has a sizeable screen. The phone has slightly curved edges that make it really sleek. It also comes with quite slim bezels. The display resolution of the device is set at 720 x 1600 pixels.
Setting Up and Performance
Upon powering up, the device took less than 25 seconds to fully boot. When it comes on, it takes the user through a couple of tutorials to let them easily navigate the device. The device comes preinstalled with a couple of popular social and payment apps like Palmcredit, PalmPay, Facebook, Duo and so on. It comes pre-installed with Android 11, HiOS 7.6. Moving between various apps on the Camon 17 smartphone was pretty smooth. There were no slight delays that come with multitasking like described with the iTel P36. This, I believe, is a result of the big 4 GB RAM that comes with the device. In the full review, we will attempt playing CPU-heavy games on the smartphone and see how it performs. There’s a monster battery powering the Camon 17 device. It charged from 64% to 100% in 56 minutes. The device comes with a Safe Charging feature. This feature protects the battery by automatically disconnecting it once it’s done charging. Quite impressive play from the manufacturers on this end.
